Seminar on CSR, Health and Ageing

AMSIMR and TISS, Mumbai had jointly organised Seminar on ‘Corporate Social Responsibility, Health and Ageing’ at AMSIMR on March 30, 2015. Dr. R. M. Kumar, Director-AMSIMR, emphasised the growing importance of private sector in CSR activities. Prof. S. Siva Raju and Dr. K. Ravindran from TISS explained the role of CSR especially in health and ageing.

Technical session was chaired by Dr. P. M. Sandhya Rani from TISS which included Dr. Nidhi Gupta from TISS, Mr. P. M. Rajshekharan from IMPACT India Foundation and Mr. Prakash Borgaonkar from Helpage India as speakers. The P-D-C-A cycle, services of Lifeline Express and provisions to take care of elderly people were elaborated.

There was also group discussion on three aspects which were moderated by Mr. Kiran Paranjpe, Mr. Anand Mehta and Mr. Pradeep Kashyap who are eminent experts from the corporate sector.

Dr. Suresh Anand, senior medical professional, narrated some real life examples depicting the difficulties of aged people and highlighted the need to take care of their requirements. Prof. S. Siva Raju concluded by citing some major laws of Mauritius government for elderly people and stressed the need for such laws in India as well.

Record Winning Maha Pasti Abhiyan ‘Pasti Se Pustak’ organised by Arham Yuva Group

Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world.  After receiving overwhelming response to its Maha Pasti Abhiyan1 and Maha Pasti Abhiyan2, Arham Yuva Group (AYG) initiated Maha Pasti Abhiyan3 to make it a bigger success. Maha Pasti Abhiyan3 was conducted on March 1, 2015. AYG centers collected much larger stack of old newspapers and raised substantial fund for education of underprivileged children.

AMSIMR participated whole-heartedly to make AYG’s charitable mission successful. Our students participated as volunteers to collect newspapers from different areas of Ghatkopar.  Also, we encouraged many people to join the campaign and help us to lay a strong foundation of education in the lives of several needy students.

Students along with teaching and non-teaching staff members of the institute donated newspapers for the noble cause and thus became part of the initiative in achieving our dream of educating the nation.

Hindustan Times Cleanliness Drive

We appreciate the efforts taken by Hindustan Times in various ways to create a Clean Mumbai. But it’s sad to note that many things have not changed for the better.

Photographs which are taken by some of our students of various locations in Mumbai which are not clean in spite of the initiatives taken by the Government and Hindustan Times were sent to Hindustan Times on March 18, 2015. This was intended to create further awareness of cleanliness among the people in general and our students in particular.

Paraplegic Foundation Exhibition

An exhibition-cum-sale of the products made by the Paraplegic Foundation ‘Parivaar’ was organised on Saturday, March 10, 2012. Differently-abled persons from Paraplegic Foundation visited our institute for selling the products prepared by them. People from local areas were also invited for the exhibition. This event was organised for creating awareness about differently-abled people to the society and sensitising people towards them.

Emotional Intelligence Training

In association with Forum of Emotional Intelligence and Learning, three-hour session for school teachers and students on the basics of Emotional Intelligence was organised as part of social responsibility. Some students of Batch 2009-11 and  Batch 2010-12 have been accredited as  Emotional  Intelligence trainers. I .J. Patel School, Juhu, Smt. Surajba College of Education, Juhu and Gyan Sarita High School, Mulund were provided with free Emotional Intelligence workshop.
