AMSIMR proudly organized a special event to commemorate the completion of 150 years of the iconic and patriotic song “Vande Mataram”. This occasion was
marked with great enthusiasm, national pride, and collective participation from students, faculty members, and staff.
The event began with everyone gathering, with patriotic spirit and sang the full version of Vande Mataram in unison, creating a sense of unity, pride, and
reverence for the motherland. The harmonized voices resonated across the room, reminding everyone of the nation’s glorious history and the song’s emotional
significance in India’s freedom struggle.
Following the group recitation, the Director of the institution, Dr.Iram T. Shaikh Ma’am, addressed the gathering. In her speech, she highlighted the historical importance of Vande Mataram, composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875, and was first published in 1882 as part of Chatterjee’s Bengali novel Anandmath.
She further emphasized how the song played a crucial role in igniting the spirit of nationalism during India’s freedom movement. She also explained how the song
continues to inspire feelings of devotion, courage, and unity among Indians even today.
The attendees were shown videos of the coins and postal stamps to be released by the GOI in commemoration of this historic event.
The students, moved by the significance of the occasion, patriotically shouted “Vande Mataram” with great enthusiasm and energy, reflecting their love and
respect for the nation. Their spirited participation added a powerful and heartfelt dimension to the commemoration.
The event concluded with everyone collectively singing Vande Mataram once again, followed by the soulful rendition of the patriotic salute “Maa Tujhe
Salaam”, creating a memorable and emotionally uplifting end to the celebration.
Overall, the program served as a meaningful reminder of India’s cultural heritage, patriotic values, and the timeless significance of Vande Mataram. The active
involvement of students and staff made the occasion truly inspiring and impactful.
