The picture of the world is very gloomy in terms of the health of the population. India is a fast growing diabetic country with almost 65 million people affected with it. Lifestyle has changed and most people are occupied with the difficult task of achieving work-life balance. People spend most of the time in their workplace leaving hardly any time to think about their fitness.

Today’s world is very competitive and tough; working individuals hardly find enough time to keep themselves fit by way of physical exercise or by using sophisticated modern health equipments that may be supportive to keep their body healthier. However, good health is a good way to find happiness in life. There are many ways to improve our health and fitness.

However, some definite simple steps that can be adopted by individuals in their daily routine can give them good health and vitality. They are briefly narrated below:

Drink hot water and lemon: A glass of hot lemon water with one-teaspoonful of Honey in the morning helps improve the body’s metabolism rate or you can drink green tea with lemon.

Go dairy-free: Many people experience belly discomfort and bloating after eating dairy products. If you can relate, avoid cream and yogurt at breakfast.

Detox with yoga: Yoga twists can support digestion to help rid your body of toxins. This yoga detox sequence includes plenty of twists and stretches to help you wake up and feel your best.

Have a tropical snack: Both pineapple and papaya contain enzymes that help banish bloat by breaking down protein and easing digestion. Have it with coconut water also for a midmorning snack.

Stay hydrated: Hydrating at work is as important as hydrating while exercising. Office environments may be driest places particularly with air-conditioning. Increase fluid intake at regular intervals.

Limit caffeine intake: Caffeinated drinks including cola, tea and coffee, all dehydrate your body. This can result in headaches, dry and sore throats, and lethargy.

Don’t lose your bottle: Always keep a bottle of water at arm’s reach. Take frequent swigs and you’ll keep your fluid levels topped up.

Don’t neglect activity: However, just because you have water close at hand and don’t need to move away from your desk for a drink, still make sure that you take regular exercise and mobility breaks.

Relax: If stress levels are high, it’ll have a terrible impact on health and wellbeing. To stay healthy and fit, learn how to relax. Meditate or take a hot bath or laugh.

Live an active lifestyle: If you can’t go to gym or dance class, incorporate exercise into lifestyle to stay fit. Walk to home from the station or bus depot; climb the staircase instead of taking the elevator.

Optimum foods: For nutrition, have tomatoes, (good for heart), spinach (good for brain), blueberries (good for cholesterol), salmon (good for weight loss) and pumpkin seeds (good for memory).

According to 20-20-20 rule, a busy person can ease himself or have a relaxing mood from his workload by looking at an object 20ft away, every 20 minutes for 20 seconds.

With physical fitness, mental health and fitness can’t be neglected. For this give 5 minutes of solitude, relax and meditate, imagine some good events or a beautiful scenery with closed eyes. The mind will surely feel relaxed. As Josh Billing says, “Health is like money, we never have an idea of the value it has until such time we lose it”. Remember to take care of health and always stay fit!
