The MMS students of AMSIMR undertook an industrial visit from 1st to 9th February 2026 to Chandigarh, Manali, and Amritsar with the objective of gaining practical exposure to industrial operations, sustainability practices, tourism economy, and service management. The group departed from Bandra Terminus on 1st February 2026 at 6:45 PM via the Golden Temple Express and reached Ambala Cantt on 2nd February at 7:35 PM before proceeding to Chandigarh.
At Chandigarh, students visited the Jaypee Power Plant, where they learned about transformer functioning, plant operations, safety systems, and organizational workflow. They also visited a plastic cap recycling manufacturing unit, which provided insights into recycling processes, quality control, and environmentally sustainable production practices. The visit also included brief retail and urban infrastructure observation in the city.
The group then travelled to Manali, reaching on 4th February 2026 and staying at Hotel Hill County Resort & Spa. During their stay, students explored the local tourism economy, participated in team-building activities at Solang Valley, and visited Kullu, where they observed the operations of the AAR KAY Shawl Factory and understood handicraft production, local supply chains, and market linkage of traditional industries.
The group proceeded to Amritsar on 7th February and visited the Golden Temple, where students observed the Langar system, gaining exposure to large-scale service management, logistics planning, and volunteer coordination. They also visited Jallianwala Bagh for historical learning.
The group departed from Amritsar on 8th February at 6:45 PM and reached Mumbai at 11:55 PM, successfully concluding the visit. The industrial visit provided valuable experiential learning in manufacturing processes, sustainable production, tourism-based business models, and mass service operations while enhancing teamwork, discipline, and managerial understanding among students.
