AMSIMR and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai jointly organised a Seminar on ‘Corporate Social Responsibility, Health and Ageing’ at AMSIMR. Dr. R. M. Kumar, Director, AMSIMR, described the role of private sector in CSR activities in the inaugural session. Prof. S. Siva Raju and Dr. K. Ravindran from TISS, Mumbai explained the role of CSR in health and ageing.

The technical session was chaired by Dr. P. M. Sandhya Rani from TISS, Mumbai which included Dr. Nidhi Gupta from TISS, Mumbai, Mr. P. M. Rajshekharan from IMPACT India Foundation and Mr. Prakash Borgaonkar from Helpage India as panel members. The P-D- C-A cycle, services of Lifeline Express and provisions to take care of elderly people were elaborated.

There was also group discussion on three aspects which were moderated by Mr. Kiran Paranjpe, Former Vice-President, Technical Department, Sanchar Telesystems Ltd.; Mr. Anand Mehta, Entrepreneur, Aarsi Arts & Shubham and Corporate Trainer; and Mr. Pradeep Kashyap, Resource Trainer and Motivational Coach. The summary of group discussion was presented.

In the valedictory session, Dr. Suresh Anand, senior medical professional, narrated some real life examples depicting the difficulties faced by the aged people and highlighted the need to take care of them in the old age. Prof. S. Siva Raju concluded by citing some major laws of Mauritius government for the welfare of aged people and stressed the need for such laws in India also.
